Name: Jess
Are you over 15? Yep!
Contact: Should we feel the need to contact you privately, what is your preferred method?
Current characters in the game: Owain. Fire Emblem: Awakening
IC Information:
Name: Jungo Torii. Reincarnation named the same but goes by Jay
Canon and Medium: Devil Survivor 2. Video Game
Age: 19
Preincarnation Species: Human
Preincarnation Appearance: A concise description or link to an image will do.
Any Differences: Remember that only a normal human appearance will be acceptable, except in cases when the character will begin as a terrestrial animal.
Starting Location: What Echo boundary is your character starting in? Current locations: 1) Locke City, NJ, USA. 2) Las Vegas, NV, USA.
Preincarnated History: Pre canon: Not much is shown about Jungo's life before the Septentrion attack. He mentions being an orphan and growing up in an orphanage, where he made a lot of friends. Considering he makes no mention of being adopted or any other family one can assume he was orphaned young, had no one else, and simply aged-out of the system. He worked for a chef in Nagoya, who he called his Boss, and who he seems to have great respect for. He may have been living above the shop.
The main events of the game are shown here, ending is Triumphant, with the assumption everyone except the Anguished One lives.
Canon: Jungo is introduced on the Third Day, when the party travels to Nagoya to try and find Daichi, who vanished on a supply run. They first find Airi Ban, a girl who he joined JPs with, trying to find him. Apparently the local JPs branch had been attacked and scattered by rioters, and the two were separated. The party eventually finds him fighting some of said rioters, fighting like his life depends on it and crushing their phones after so they can't hurt anyone anymore. But after helping him and reuniting the two, Jungo runs off again to help people, much to Airi's anger. But soon after everyone gets a Death Clip: showing Jungo defending a captured Daichi and being killed for it.
Thanks to a series of events involving Fumi and some extra RAM, the party finds him in time, saving him and Daichi both and earning Jungo's eternal friendship. He joins the party full time the next day after JPs physicals.
From this point on Jungo himself has little direct impact on the story, but he does show up in his own and Keita's Fate conversations. In his own he finds a cat injured, possibly by demons. The poor animal is in a bad state, and with the protagonists help Jungo manages to get the cat to Otome, the JPs doctor, saving it's life. From that point on he is connected at the hip with the animal, training it and keeping it fed. But eventually the cat vanishes, sending Jungo into a panic to find him- the protagonist and Otome do first, only to be attacked by demons who try again to kill the cat. Jungo arrives just in time to save them in a rage... but realizes that the animal would not be safe around demon tamers and reluctantly leaves him behind with the hope to find him again once the battles are over.
Meanwhile, in Keita's Fate conversations Jungo desperately tries to befriend the younger boy, which Keita not only refutes but angrilycounters, stating needing others is a weakness. Jungo, who grew up with only his friends, argues back and refuses to stop trying to help and befriend Keita- something that just infuriates him more. Until Jungo and Hinako are attacked by demons, and Hinako asks Keita for help, which he refuses to do. The protagonist does instead, only to have another demon band sneak attack Jungo. Keita shows up in time to save him- though he says it was just to fight and learn a new move, grudingly accepting that maybe having others around isn't such a liability, much to Jungo's delight.
Until the Seventh Day, Jungo has no further big plot relvence. But when the protagonist chooses to side with Daichi to try and find a third option from Yamato and Ronaldo, Jungo joins them as well as Hinako, adding his strength to their cause. He helps them defeat the other factions and recruit their friends all back to one side. Together they decide to turn back time to before the disaster, to a world still unaffected by Polaris' judgement. Eventually they win out over many battles, and as the world turns back Jungo gets a final chance to thank the protagonist for all the friends he was able to make, even though he would soon forget they ever met.
In the ending, as the world is shown back to normal, there are some changes- as everyone connected with the protagonist their hopes and dreams in the new world were realized. Jungo is shown with his own small shop, his cat, and friends with Keita, just like he wanted. The rest of his life is unknown, but one can assume it was happy and peaceful- his only goal from the start.
Reincarnated History: Jungo Torii, known as Jay by most everyone to avoid name based bullying, was born and raised in Locke City. Unlike his preincarnation he had both parents growing up- but is proof upbringing has more to it then the number of parents you have. Neither could keep a hold of money for various reasons, tended to be gone all day and out drinking all night: two teenagers that never really learned to be parents or even really adults. And while they were never cruel, Jay was left to his own devices completely. A trusting child, like his reincarnation he was big and a little scary looking. And others liked to take advantage. Falling into the wrong crowds gave him the 'family' he didn't have at home, and Jay was devoted to his friends, who often used him to intimate others. He was known as a terror in school, though in reality he was just muscle, never starting anything on his own, but never questioning who others pointed him at to deal with either. Eventually thuggish behavior got more literal- devolving into petty crime and expulsions.
Then, mid-high school Jay just dropped out. His grades were already bad, and no one tried to stop him. By 17 he stopped coming home entirely.
Now at 19 he's effectively homeless, though nothing so bad as sleeping outside. Usually. Living from couch to couch and under the table jobs he manages well enough. If his parents have looked for him they haven't tried very hard- and he is happy enough with his life. If just from the belief that his 'friends' are more real then his family, even if any attempts at a real job keep seeming to be ruined by his buddies bumming around. But to Jay this is just how his life is.
First Echo: His cat, Jungo.
Jay's first Echo occurred a normally chilly evening. Bumming around a smaller shopping center he heard growling and yowling sounds. Moving to investigate he caught someone siccing their dog on some abandoned kittens. Chasing them off, he found only one survived. The similarity to how he met his cat in his past life set off his first echo: the knowledge that this cat's name was Jungo. Like his own. And the numbers- though he doesn't yet realize anything weird- just assuming in his adrenaline and panic over the hurt animal that Jungo was literally all he could think of name wise.
Preincarnation Personality: What sort of person were they in their past life? Headcanon should be clearly marked in italics. This section is important, as it helps us gauge your grasp on the character, so spare no expense here.
Any Differences: You are encouraged to deviate from the original personality in three or four major ways, made to make their personality logical to the setting and their new history (which, by default, varies from their original life). If the personality does not differentiate significantly, or if the differences do not make sense given the rest of your app, revisions may be asked for.
Abilities: What abilities did your character's preincarnation have? To what extent were they used? Include any equipment they had access to and any skills they had. Headcanon should be indicated in italics, as before. You may write a brief synopsis and link to a more detailed resource if you wish. Favor conciseness here, and try to limit (or else otherwise elaborate upon) canon terminology to avoid confusion.
Roleplay Sample - Third Person: Some form of extended, third-person prose exhibiting strong voice and key behaviors of your character. If the voice is weak or the characterization appears to be off, revisions may be asked for.
Roleplay Sample - Network: Same as above, but in network-style format, using text, video, audio, etc. This MUST be on the network.
*Note: One of the samples (of your choice) must be done from the perspective of the reincarnated character, set within the game. Samples from the test drive community may be used for this purpose.
Any Questions? If you need to clear up any lingering questions or concerns, here's the place to do it.
